8 Ways to Create More Credible Marketing Content in Your Blog

Who would you trust more for information about coffee; the barista from your favorite cafe who's been making coffee for years and always knows your order, or your friend who thinks that coffee grows in the ocean. Well, that one's pretty obvious...

So, what qualities make a source credible? The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines credibility as "the quality or power of inspiring belief." People may be reading your blog, but are you credible?

The more subscribers you have, the more credible you seem, and the more authority you have. One way to make your blog appear as a credible source is great format.

Beyond formatting, we've created a list of ways to create credible content in your blog to grow subscribers, and become a leader in your industry...

If you're interested in learning more about optimizing your blog to drive more traffic, check out our free ebook, "How an Inbound Marketing Agency Does Blogging."

8 Ways to Maximize Your Blog's Marketing Content

1. Choose Your Expert Quality

It's great to become a source of information for a lot of people, but make sure you choose one quality to focus on. This should be relatively easy considering you know your company qualities and customers.

You want to build a connection with people and make sure they come to you for information on that topic first. If you are posting a wide range of topics, people may not visit your site daily because some information may not pertain to them.

Become an expert, and you'll become credible. Of course, you can cover different topics, but always relate them back to your main content.

2. Attract Attention

Find your writing ego. If it seems to be working, you're doing something right. Make sure people can see you have a personality, because no personality means you're boring. No one wants to read boring content, and they definitely wont be revisiting your site. If they're interested in what you're writing, they're more likely to trust you're content.

Take risks and be bold. Some people may not like it, but a lot will.

3. Write Confidently

If you aren't confident in yourself, no one will be confident with your content, and you won't be considered a credible source. Do your research before writing a post, and form an opinion.

People are attracted to others if they have a lot of confidence, and it's the same for your blog.

4. Showcase Your Personal Progress

Readers are more likely to be interested if you can show them you started at the bottom. By showing everyone that you grew as a person and gained experience along the way, you will capture attention.

Maybe they are in a position you were once in; this creates a connection between the two of you, and will increase the chances of subscribing.

5. Write For the Benefit of Others

Don't always write what you want to write about- it may be easier that way, but you won't connect with readers as well.

If you notice people in your industry are having an issue with something or need more content on a specific topic, write about it. Again, this may not be as interesting to you, but they will be more likely to come back to your site if you are giving them the information they are asking for.

6. Don't Give Away All Your Insight

They may be asking for it, but don't give it all away. Even though you should be writing about what people are asking for, you want them to want more. If you're giving away too much information, people will revisit your blog, but may not look to you for doing business because you've given them all the skills.

7. Influence Readers Without Telling Them What To Do

By keeping your content conversational, readers will trust you and follow your tips. Make it seem optional, not the only way to do things. Tips and suggestions are taken better than strict rules. Even if you label them rules, still keep it conversational.

Build a rapport with your readers, and when it's time to promote a product or service, they will be more welcoming. If your constantly promoting yourself or your products, people won't find your posts to be interesting, or to their benefit.

8. Create Demand For Your Content

You should post frequently to maintain interest, but at the same time limit your posts to keep people wanting more. If you post so frequently that you've given away all information you can in a short period of time, people won't want to subscribe to your blog, since they've obtained all the information they need.
