Best sales podcasts: 21 you need to listen to in 2020

The legendary sales trainer, motivational speaker and all-around inspirational human Zig Ziglar once said, “The biggest room in the world is the room for improvement.”

As a salesperson, I’m always on the lookout for resources to help me get better at what I do. As a voracious consumer of podcasts, I recently dove into sales podcasts to get a regular dose of enablement content.

If you ever wondered whether there’s a sales podcast out there for you, you’re in luck.

There are dozens upon dozens of veteran sales leaders who have hung up their headsets and have dedicated their careers to helping young sales professionals get better through the medium.

I polled my network, scoured the internet, and spent hours upon hours soaking up free advice to find out what sales podcasts are worth investing my time.

These are the best of the best:

1. Inside Selling with Josh Braun

Josh Braun is the CEO and Founder of Sales DNA, a sales training and consulting firm. He’s a career sales leader and spent a year as VP of Sales at Basecamp. His podcast leans on the expertise of his guests who share their experience and insight as to what makes them successful salespeople and leaders.

Typical Episode Length: 15-60 mins

Episode Regularity: 1-2 Episodes per Month

2. Make it Happen Mondays with John Barrows

Dropping every Monday (as the name suggests), John Barrows focuses on essential sales skills in each episode.

Barrows has an impressive resume of B2B companies with whom he’s consulted such as Salesforce, Citrix, and ZenDesk, so he’s a wealth of knowledge when it comes to crushing quotas for B2B sales teams.

Typical Episode Length: 40-50 mins

Episode Regularity: New Episode Every Monday

3. Your Sales MBA Podcast

Jeff Hoffman and Cece Aparo co-host this podcast that singles out an essential sales skill in every episode. As an author, trainer, and consultant, Jeff Hoffman has worked with sales teams at some of the world’s most reputable software companies. He brings that experience to this podcast and doles out actionable insights that will help even experienced reps close more deals.

Typical Episode Length: 15-25 mins

Episode Regularity: 1 Episode per Week (when in season)

4. Sales Gravy with Jeb Blount

As an author, speaker and podcaster, Jeb Blount leverages his decades of experience as a sales executive in his insightful podcast. Most of the episodes are around five minutes in length so if you don’t have much time between crushing calls and closing deals, Sales Gravy will fit nicely into your schedule.

Typical Episode Length: 5-60 mins

Episode Regularity: Irregular schedule, but often posts series of 5 episodes in short succession

5. The Salesman Podcast

One of the more well-known and established sales podcasts out there, The Salesman Podcast with Will Barron focuses on the whole spectrum of sales skills such as body language, psychology, and emotional intelligence. Typical Episode Length: 35-45 mins

7. The GaryVee Audio Experience

If you’re reading this blog post, you’ve probably heard of Gary Vaynerchuk.

He’s one of the most successful and prolific thought leaders in the sales and marketing industries, and his podcast is exactly what you think it would be: insightful, actionable and inspirational.

8. The Women in Tech Show

While this show isn’t a traditional sales podcast, I thought it might be helpful to bring some diversity of perspective into the list of recommended podcasts.

If you’re interested in hearing from women across different aspects of the tech industry (including sales) then this is a great resource.

And by the way, you don’t have to identify as a woman to listen to and appreciate it.

Typical Episode Length: 25-35 mins

Episode Regularity: 2-4 Episodes per Month

9. The Art of Charm

The Art of Charm is a well-established podcast that embodies the “To Sell is Human” philosophy. It speaks to all aspects of interpersonal communication in life, including sales and business.

12. Conquer Local with George Leith

If you sell to local businesses (like I sometimes do), then you know it’s a whole different ball of wax than selling to companies who do business regionally, nationally, or internationally.

Their needs and strategies for growth can be very different and specialized; that’s why George Leith created his podcast specifically targeted at local businesses and their unique needs.

They draw a great balance in the format of the show in that they post a long-form show every Monday (around 45 mins) and a much shorter show every Friday (around 8 mins) for their “Friday Fundamentals” series.

Not focusing exclusively on sales but more broadly on personal and business growth, the Ziglar Show is a great dose of inspiration and guidance.
