Build Trust Through Social Media in 5 Simple Ways

Build Trust Through Social Media in 5 Simple WaysWith everyone and anyone having the ability to post information on the internet, it's hard to tell what is truthful, and who you can trust. The last thing you want is for your customers to consider you as an unreliable, untrustworthy source of information. But how can you prevent that? There are many ways, but one which is often overlooked is to build trust through social media.

Here's five simple, yet effective ways to increase trust amongst your followers on social media platforms, enjoy!

5 Ways to Build Trust Through Social Media

1. Deliver Quality

By sharing your best content, people will begin to start understanding your company better, and looking towards you for information. At this point, you've already created great content that is worthy of sharing with people, so it has been fact checked, and revised. Trustable information looks professional, contains great information, and has no errors. By sharing the content you have spent the most time on with followers on social media, you'll increase their trust.

Although you do want to share your best information with your followers, you don't want to give them everything. Entice them enough to click through to your website. If you have great facts about your industry in an infographic you just created, try to not tweet or post every fact. You want your followers to actually go to your website, right?

2. Avoid Jargon

Social media is meant for short interactions. Take Twitter- posts can only be 140 characters. Why fill your posts with unnecessary language that, although may make you sound smart, will bore your followers. Keep your posts simple and short, leading the reader to click through if they'd like more information. Give them a taste of what they'll get if they click through, and be sure to actually give it to them. To gain trust, it is important to be giving your followers information that they want, in a way they will understand it.

If you're a computer company and want to share information with actual customers, sending tweets and posts about Gunning Transceiver Logic, and CXT Cores won't help (yeah, i Googled those). You may think people will trust you if you are being very technical, but in reality no one will want to engage with you if they cant understand you. Find the correct language for your customers and avoid 'mumbo-jumbo', and you'll start to gain their trust because they will be able to relate to you.

3. Highlight the Best of Your Company

Show all your followers your best! Do you have testimonial from customers or case studies of success stories? SHARE THEM! Your followers will want to read about people like them finding your company helpful. If your followers can relate to your case studies or testimonials, they will trust you more. Since reach is so large on social media platforms, you can share your best customers with tons of people. All those people that you entice to click through will trust you more and more.

4. Engage

Whats the point of sharing your content on social media and not doing anything else? Facebook, Twitter and of course many other platforms make it so easy to interact with customers. Take advantage of the tools you are given and actually talk to the people talking to you. Those directly receiving responses will gain trust that you are a company aware of the little people (customers) and that you actually care about them. Other followers that may not receive response messages will still be able to see the interaction you have with others, and will gain trust from that too.

5. Timing is everything

If you post to often, people are just going to be annoyed by you and unfollow you. You may have great posts and information being sent out, but people won't really care after a certain point and will remove you from their news feed. Constant posts may also make you appear to be a spammer, which doesn't make them want to trust you. Tons of posts make people think that you only care about getting promoted. If you're posting too little, they'll forget about you, or think you forgot about them. Lack of interactions on social media platforms show you don't care about the followers or sharing any information with them. Finding a balance between the two will build a trusting relationship with your customers.
