Paid Ads Management with Swell by IMPACT
Get more from every dollar you spend on ads.
Swell is IMPACT's paid media division and works with companies in two ways. We either manage your paid campaigns directly, or we train your team to manage or improve in-house. Either way, the goal is the same: ads that are accountable to your business goals, not just to clicks and impressions.
Why Companies Come to Swell by IMPACT for Paid Advertising
Paid advertising refers to any marketing where you pay to place your message in front of a targeted audience, including search ads on Google, social ads on Meta and LinkedIn, display advertising, and video ads. For most businesses investing $10,000 or more per month in these channels, the question isn't whether to run paid ads. It's whether the program is producing measurable business results.
Here’s what we hear most often:
“I don’t know if what we’re doing is working. We’re spending money, but I can’t tell what we’re getting out of it.”
In our experience, this usually means reports are arriving on schedule, but nobody can connect the numbers in those reports to leads that actually closed, pipeline that actually moved, or revenue the business can actually measure. The data may exist somewhere in the ad platform or CRM, but it's not making it into a conversation anyone trusts.
“In-platform performance looks great, but we’re not seeing quality leads come in, and our agency can’t explain the disconnect.”
Click-through rates look healthy. Cost per click seems reasonable. The dashboard looks fine. But the leads coming through aren't turning into real opportunities. In our conversations, this is often a sign that the ads may be optimized for platform metrics rather than business outcomes.
“Every few months, we’re re-explaining our business to a new account manager.”
Many of the companies we talk to signed on with an agency because of the senior person in the room during the pitch. Then the work got handed to someone else. Then that person left. Then a new one started. Each time, momentum resets. The institutional knowledge of your business walks out the door, but the invoice stays the same.
“We want to manage this in-house, but our team doesn’t have the experience to do it well, and we can’t afford to learn by wasting budget.”
Hiring a full-time paid media specialist with real depth is expensive and hard to evaluate from the outside. Training an existing team member without guidance can mean slow progress and costly trial and error. These companies are often looking for a middle path: expert-level strategic input while their team builds the skills to eventually own it.
“Our ads are running in silo. Leads come in, but nothing connects to what the rest of our marketing or sales team is doing.”
The paid team sends traffic. The website does (or doesn't) convert it. Sales follows up (or doesn't) with the leads that come through. In many of the programs we've audited, nobody is looking at the full picture together. The ads may not be bad. They may just be disconnected from everything around them.
What Makes Swell by IMPACT Different From Other Paid Advertising Agencies?
We offer two paths depending on what your business actually needs: a senior team that manages your campaigns for you, or a consulting and training program that builds your team's capability to manage and improve your own advertising over time. Both paths are served by the same experienced team. Both tie paid media performance to what's happening downstream in your CRM and your sales process.
What makes this partnership different is the layer Swell adds: strategy alignment. Swell manages your campaigns inside the broader marketing system where paid, organic content, and CRM are all pulling in the same direction toward the same goals.
vs. Large PPC Agencies
At Swell, you work with a small, senior team. Your team includes senior strategists, a dedicated project manager, and an in-house designer. You won't re-explain your business every few months because your team stays the same.
vs. Lower-Cost Alternatives
The tradeoff is typically fewer strategists on your account and less time for strategic work outside of platform management. At Swell, every call starts with what's actually happening in your pipeline. That connection between ad performance and business outcomes is where most lower-cost models tend to make cuts.
vs. Going It Alone
Running paid ads without deep platform expertise and a disciplined testing methodology can mean slow learning and an inconsistent budget. Whether Swell manages your campaigns directly or trains your team to manage them, you get senior-level strategic guidance from day one.
Working with Swell has felt like a true partnership...
...an extension of our internal team. They don't just run our ads; they're invested in our results.”

Is Swell the Right Fit for Your Paid Advertising?
The best client relationships are built on alignment, not just budget. Here’s how to know if this is the right fit for you.
You’re a Good Fit for Ads Management If...
You’re spending at least $20,000 per month in ad spend (this is a hard minimum for management.
You’ve run paid ads before and have foundational knowledge of how they work.
You have a marketing team of 2-3 people who can act on recommendations between calls.
Your business has an established online presence: a real website, reviews, and visibility in your market.
You want measurable results tied to leads, pipeline, and revenue.
You want a true partner, not a vendor to hand things off to.
You can make changes between meetings and move quickly when needed.
You’re committed to the long game. Paid ads compound over time.
You’re a Good Fit for Consulting & Training If...
You’re likely spending at least $10,000 per month in ad spend (or planning to).
You have someone on your team who manages or will manage paid media.
You want to build in-house paid advertising capability with expert guidance.
You want accountability and coaching, not just advice.
You have an established online presence and are actively investing in your digital marketing.
You're willing to commit to monthly calls and dedicate time to implementing between sessions.
Probably Not the Right Fit If…
Your website is outdated, you haven’t been creating content, and your digital presence hasn’t been a priority. Ads amplify what’s already working. If the foundation isn’t there, ads will likely spend money without producing results.
You don’t have the team capacity to act on recommendations or do implementation work between calls.
You’re looking for a quick fix or a “Hail Mary” to rescue a struggling business.
Major decisions require multi-layer approval chains that prevent the quick action that paid media requires.
You’re primarily looking for the lowest-cost available.
If your business doesn't yet have a strong digital presence, paid advertising will likely struggle to produce results no matter who's managing it. Ads work best when buyers can find content that builds trust, a website that converts, and a sales process that follows through. If that foundation isn't in place yet, IMPACT's Endless Customers coaching program may be a better starting point. It's designed to help companies build the content, website, video, and sales systems that make paid advertising and every other marketing channel work.
Not sure if your current paid ads program is delivering what it should?
Take the Paid Ads Effectiveness & Accountability Assessment. In about 5 minutes, you'll evaluate six critical areas of your program: goal alignment, data transparency, strategy, testing and learning, proactivity, and accountability. You'll receive a performance profile with specific recommendations. No call required.
How We Work Together
Every engagement follows the same path, whether you choose management or consulting and training. Here’s what to expect from your first contact through ongoing partnership.
Intro Call
We start with a 30 minute conversation to understand your business, your ad history, your goals, and your current challenges. This helps us determine whether a free audit makes sense and whether we’re the right fit for each other. No pitch, no pressure.
Initial Audit
We’ll conduct a complimentary audit of your existing ad accounts. This isn’t a surface-level scan. This covers campaign structure, targeting, ad copy quality, budget pacing, conversion tracking, and performance relative to your stated goals. You receive a written summary of findings and honest recommendations, whether or not we end up working together.
Audit Review
We’ll walk through the audit findings together on a dedicated call. You’ll get specific, actionable recommendations and an honest answer about which path is the right one for you. If both sides want to move forward, we will send a proposal within days.
Kickoff
Once you’re onboard, we complete a detailed kickoff questionnaire and hold a 60-minute kickoff call to align on goals, review brand guidelines, confirm approval workflows, and establish the baseline for your campaign strategy. Nothing launches until we are fully aligned.
Ongoing Partnership
From here, you're on one of two paths. Management means your Swell team runs your campaigns on an ongoing basis, handling strategy execution, creative, and optimization.
Consulting and training means your strategist coaches your team for structured skill development, reviews your real campaigns, and holds you accountable for building in-house capability.
For full paid ads management, you will have a rhythm of bi-weekly 45-minute strategy calls. For consulting and training clients, we will meet with you monthly. Both come with real-time dashboard access, continuous campaign optimization, and a team that treats your business like their own.
Two Ways to Work with Swell on Paid Ads
Both paths start with the same month one foundation. Both are served by the same senior team. The difference is who executes after month one: your Swell team or your in-house team.
Either way, the clients who get the most out of this relationship come in ready to be partners, not just buyers.
They show up to calls prepared to discuss what's happening in your business, act on recommendations between meetings, give feedback on ad copy, and keep their CRM updated so that we can track what's actually converting.
1. Paid Media Management (Do It for You)
Your accounts are always yours. We never hold them hostage.
Platforms We Manage: Google Ads (Facebook/Instagram), LinkedIn, Microsoft/Bing, Amazon, Pinterest, Reddit, Snapchat, plus others.
All engagements are month-to-month, with no long-term contracts or lock-in. The average management client stays with IMPACT for 3 to 4 years. The longest relationship is over 7 years.
Bi-Weekly Strategy Calls
45-minute working sessions with your dedicated team. Every call starts with CRM data (HubSpot preferred), not just in-platform metrics. We’ll review which campaigns are producing qualified leads and contributing to pipeline, not just clicks.
Campaign Management
Full management of paid search, social, and display campaigns. Strategy, buildout, and ongoing optimization aligned to your business goals. Campaign planning for new initiatives. Our team handles the execution, so yours doesn't have to.
Ad Copy & Creative
All ad copy written by the Swell team. Static creative design produced in-house. Video ad editing when you supply raw footage. Nothing goes live without your explicit written approval. You see every ad before it runs.
Routine Optimization
Search term reviews, audience targeting adjustments, budget pacing, bid management, and continuous performance monitoring. Our team is proactive: if there's a lull or a spike, they catch it before you do and come prepared with a plan.
Real-Time Spend Visibility
A dashboard showing exactly where every dollar of your ad spend is going, updated daily. Full transparency, all the time. No waiting for a monthly report to find out how your budget was allocated.
Reporting Tied to Revenue
Performance discussions that go beyond vanity metrics. Your team connects ad performance to what's happening downstream in your pipeline. Impressions and clicks have their place, but leads, opportunities, and revenue are what we measure against.
2. Paid Advertising Consulting & Training (Do It With You)
For companies that want their team to develop real paid media capability with expert guidance, accountability, and a structured coaching approach. Your strategist reviews your actual campaigns, provides feedback on your creative, and trains your team on the skills to manage and improve your advertising in-house.
This isn't a course or a set of recordings. It's a working relationship with a senior paid media strategist who gets to know your business, your accounts, and your team. Every session happens inside your real ad accounts with your real data.
Strategy & Training Calls
45-minute working sessions with your dedicated team. Part training, part review. Every call starts with CRM data. We’ll review which campaigns are producing qualified leads and contributing to pipeline, not just clicks.
Performance Summaries
Monthly read on what's working, what to adjust, and what to test next. Your strategist interprets the data and translates it into clear next steps your team can act on.
Async Support
Your strategist is available between calls for questions. You won't spend a week stuck on something a quick answer could resolve.
AI Tool Exploration
AI is changing paid media faster than almost any other marketing channel. Your strategist brings relevant AI tools and tactics into your training as they emerge, applied to your specific accounts and goals.
Skill Areas Your Strategist Covers
Tracking & Measurement
Pixels, conversion events, GA4, UTM structure, attribution. Most teams discover that key conversions were never being tracked correctly.
Audience Strategy & Targeting
Who you're reaching, how you're segmenting, and whether your targeting is aligned to the people who actually buy. Platform-specific targeting tactics across all platforms.
Campaign Architecture
How campaigns, ad groups, and ad sets are structured. Why structure matters for performance and reporting. How to organize accounts as they scale.
Ad Copywriting & Creative Direction
What makes ad copy convert, how to evaluate creative performance, how to brief a designer, and how to test messaging variations systematically.
Budget Allocation & Bid Management
How to distribute budget across platforms and campaigns, when to scale and when to pull back, and how bidding strategies work and when to change them.
Reporting & Optimization Cadence
How to read performance data, what to act on, what to ignore, and how to build a repeatable rhythm of testing and improving. Connecting ad data to CRM outcomes.

How Much Does Paid Ads Management with Swell Cost?
Our pricing is straightforward and tied to the scale of your ad spend. There are no hidden fees, no opaque retainers, and no surprises.
Paid Media Management Pricing
Management pricing has two components: a base monthly fee that covers your dedicated team's time (strategy calls, routine maintenance, ad copy, creative production, reporting, and account monitoring), and a performance fee tied to your actual monthly ad spend.
The performance fee scales down as your ad spend grows because the work doesn't scale linearly with the budget. Companies investing at higher levels get a better rate.
$20k-$100k Monthly Ad Spend
$5,000/month
Base fee + performance fee based on actual ad spend.
Performance Fee Tiers:
$100k+ Monthly Ad Spend
$7,000/month
Base fee + performance fee discussed and agreed upon before work begins, based on account complexity and scope.
Right for:
Minimum ad spend: $20,000/month. This threshold exists because at lower spend levels, the cost of professional management tends to exceed the value it can reliably produce. We'd rather be upfront about that than take on engagements that aren't set up to succeed.
Month-to-month agreements only. No long-term contracts. No lock-in. You stay because the results justify it. The average IMPACT paid media client stays for 3-4 years. The longest relationship is over 7 years.
What's a Performance Fee?
A performance fee is retroactive billing based on your actual ad spend for the month. If your budget is $100,000 but you only spend $75,000, the performance fee is calculated on $75,000. This protects you from overpaying in months where spend comes in under plan, and ensures our compensation reflects the actual effort involved.
What does this look like in practice?
A company spending $40,000 per month in ad spend would pay: $5,000 base fee + approximately $5,300 in performance fees = roughly $10,700 per month. Seasonal or variable-spend clients see their monthly cost flex naturally. The base fee stays the same. The performance fee adjusts with what you actually spent.
Consulting & Training Pricing
A note on what you're paying for: you're not paying for someone to run your ads. You're paying for a senior paid media strategist who learns your business, reviews your actual campaigns, trains your team on the skills to manage and improve them, and holds you accountable for doing the work. The goal is a team that gets better every month.

A Few More Questions We Hear Often
How do I know if I need paid ads management or consulting and training?
It comes down to whether you want someone to run your ads or whether you want your team to learn how to run them well. If you don't have the internal bandwidth or expertise to manage campaigns day to day, management is likely the right path. If you have someone on your team who owns paid media (or will) and you want them to get better with expert guidance, consulting and training may make more sense. Many clients aren't sure when they first reach out, and that's fine. The intro call and initial audit help us figure out the right path together.
What platforms does Swell work with?
Google Ads, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), LinkedIn, Microsoft/Bing, Amazon, Pinterest, Reddit, StackAdapt, and Snapchat. The platforms we prioritize depend on where your customers spend their time and what your goals are. Most clients focus on two or three platforms. We'll recommend which ones make sense for your business during the audit and kickoff process.
Do you handle creative design, or just strategy and copy?
For management clients, we handle all ad copy, static creative design, and video ad editing (you supply raw footage). Our team has an in-house designer dedicated to producing ad creative. Nothing goes live without your written approval.
For consulting and training clients, your strategist reviews your team's creative and provides detailed feedback and direction. The creative production stays with your team, but the strategic guidance on what works and why comes from ours.
What's the minimum ad spend to work with Swell by IMPACT?
For management, the minimum is $20,000 per month in ad spend (not including management fees). This threshold exists because at lower spend levels, the cost of professional management tends to exceed the value it can reliably produce. For consulting and training, you're likely spending at least $10,000 per month or planning to. There's no hard minimum for consulting, but the program is most valuable when there are real campaigns to review and real decisions to coach through.
How much does paid ads management cost?
At Swell by IMPACT, paid ads management pricing has two components: a base monthly fee ($5,000 or $7,000 depending on your spend level) and a performance fee tied to your actual ad spend. The performance fee starts at 15% and scales down as spend increases.
How quickly will we see results from paid ads?
Month 1 typically surfaces quick wins that get addressed immediately. Most clients identify two to four issues in the first month that may have been quietly wasting budget or blocking conversions. By the end of Month 2-3, you should see measurable improvements in the metrics that matter: lead quality, cost per lead, and how ad-sourced leads perform in your pipeline.
Paid ads can show early signals faster than most marketing channels, but building a high-performing program that compounds over time takes consistency. The clients who tend to see the biggest long-term results are the ones who commit to the ongoing partnership and let the data guide decisions.
What happens if our campaigns aren't performing after 90 days?
If we're not seeing the trajectory we expected, we'll have an honest conversation about why. Sometimes the issue is in the ads. Sometimes it may be the landing page, the follow-up process, or the offer itself. We'll diagnose the problem and propose a path forward. If it becomes clear that IMPACT's services aren't the right fit for your situation, we'll say so. All engagements are month-to-month for exactly this reason.
Do you take a percentage of our ad spend?
The pricing model is a base monthly fee plus a performance fee that is calculated as a percentage of your actual ad spend. The percentage starts at 15% and scales down as spend increases. We don’t take money out of your ads budget (if you want to spend $20k on ads, all $20k will be applied to ads). The performance is based on that number, but it doesn’t take away from it.
This model ensures our compensation is connected to the scope of work involved. Higher spend generally means more campaigns, more creative, and more strategic complexity. The performance fee is retroactive, meaning it's based on what you actually spent, not what you budgeted. Consulting and training clients pay a flat monthly rate with no performance fee.
Can we start with consulting and training and move to management later?
Yes, and it goes both ways. Some companies start with consulting and training, build internal capability, and eventually want to hand off execution to focus their team's time elsewhere. Others start with management and later want to bring it in-house with coaching support. The Month 1 foundation is the same regardless of which path you choose, so transitioning between the two is straightforward.
What reporting do we get, and how often?
Management clients have access to a real-time spend visibility dashboard and receive performance updates on every bi-weekly call. Every call starts with CRM data, not just in-platform metrics. Consulting and training clients receive monthly performance summaries with their strategist's read on what's working, what to change, and what to test next. Both paths prioritize connecting ad performance to business outcomes rather than reporting on vanity metrics.
Do we need HubSpot to work with Swell?
HubSpot is strongly preferred. Our team is deeply familiar with HubSpot's reporting and attribution tools, and reviewing CRM data on every call is central to how we work. That said, we can work with companies using other CRMs. If you're not on HubSpot, we'll discuss what performance visibility looks like for your setup during the intro call.
What if our ad accounts are currently owned by another agency?
This comes up more often than you might expect. If your current agency owns your ad accounts, we’ll help you navigate the transfer of ownership or gain visibility before a review. We don’t always need you to have full ownership beforehand. Sometimes, we can work off reports that we will ask you to run. In extreme circumstances, it’s a ground-up rebuild for your ad accounts if no one has access, but we will walk you through it.
Once you're working with Swell by IMPACT, your accounts are always yours. We never take ownership, and you have full access at all times.
What if our ad spend is seasonal?
We work with clients who have seasonal spend patterns. If your business ramps up during peak seasons and pulls back in off-months, your management pricing adjusts naturally. The base fee stays the same, but the performance fee is calculated on your actual spend for the month. So if you budget $80,000 for your peak quarter but only $20,000 in slower months, your total cost flexes with that. Campaign strategy adapts accordingly too.
