HubSpot Strategy
Hi Marcus, George,
Someone emailed us about They Ask, You Answer and asked:
Prospect searches for ‘widget providers’ – a year or so ago, I would have written an article entitled ‘A guide to widget providers’ – I did get a little traction but not too much.
I then changed the title to ‘A list of widget providers’ – there hasn’t been too much of a change in results. So rather than a guide, offering a list.
I am now reaching the conclusion that the searcher might be looking for actual ‘widget providers’ rather than a specific list. E.g. just trawl through Google and bookmark providers they come across.
I guess what I am saying is that often, the searchers intent is not as obvious as we might believe.
The question is this: Based on Riverpools, I recall you saying one of your popular posts was ‘swimming pool’ providers. I wondered if you could shed some light on the searcher’s intent and how you converted the traffic. Did those companies converting on your page want:
- A list
- A guide
- Or were they just searching for listings on google that they would bookmark
And lastly, did you find the conversions were immediate or did you have to lead nurture? And in general, do you convert immediately or mostly via drip content on Riverpools?

HubSpor Updates
Have you ever wondered which authors on your blog are driving the most conversions, and creating new contacts? If so, HubSpot is happy to introduce an updated 'Analyze' tab of the HubSpot blog, which includes the ability to see which of your authors are driving new contacts. Let's dive-in to the updates.
Blog Detail Pages - When clicking to see how an individual post has performed, you'll notice the detail page has been updated to show more information about performance over time. Graphs have been updated on this page to differentiate traffic sources from one another.
Author Analytics - From the 'Analyze' tab of the Blog dashboard, scroll down to the Top Posts by Conversions report. After clicking-in to that report you will be able to switch the filter to Authors and see which authors are primarily driving conversions from blog posts, and even which posts specifically have driven the most new contacts.
For more information about these updates take a look at the articles, how to analyze your blog post performance, or, get a quick tour of the Blog tool.
