Justify Your Trip to #INBOUND15!

No matter how excited you might be to attend #INBOUND15, you may find that before you click the register button, your boss might need some more information and justification from you that this conference will be a great asset to transforming your business. (I know whenever I ask Marcus if we should go to a certain conference... It is a discussion) : )

Getting your company’s approval to attend (or justifying your own attendance if you’re the boss), is really about two things: (1) Proving that the sessions and training are valuable and (2) justifying the time and expense away from the office.

Ability to create lists based off of Twitter events

Provide the ability to create lists based off of these events, e.g. contacts who have mentioned you >5 times, contacts who have favorited a tweet, etc.

Expanded Options to Create If/Then Logic in Workflows

The full power of list segmentation is now available to create if/then branching logic in workflows. If/then branches used to let you use some, but not all, of the segmentation criteria from Lists. Now it has been expanded to include all possible options for segmentation.

Just like with starting conditions, using sophisticated if/then logic in the past often meant you had to create a dedicated list. This resulted in the same issues: the segmentation logic was kept outside of Workflows, making it hard to grasp the full picture and to troubleshoot. It also cluttered the Lists tool with one-off lists for Workflow branches. With this update, you will no longer have to leave the Workflows tool to create powerful if/then branches.

To see the update, go to Workflows, and open up a workflow. Add or edit an if/then branch, and you’ll now see all the criteria from Lists available to segment your contacts for the if/then branch.

The new options available are Company Property, Deal Property, Workflow Status, and any integration events (e.g. GoToWebinar attendance, SurveyMonkey submissions, Wistia views). You can also refine by date for form submissions, email, page views, and events. You can combine any of these criteria with AND and OR logic as well.

A great example of this...

For example, let’s say you want to build an if/then branch in your MOFU workflow for targeted nurturing of contacts from large companies who showed interest by visiting your pricing page at least twice. Before, you would have to create a list to incorporate that logic. With the new if/then logic, you can do this right in your workflow.

This week I want to dig back into my favorite video marketing platform, Wistia. I show you how to get to your Wistia portal from the videos on your webpages with one click. We also discuss a tool in Wistia that will keep you better organized.
