HubSpot Strategy

How to Convince Your Boss that You Need Video

  • Video ROI is clear
  • It can improve your website's SEO
  • It lets you build trust and boost engagement
  • Video on social media is a must

Another compelling argument for video is that it keeps visitors on your site for longer. According to HubSpot, including a video on a landing page can increase conversion rates by 80%! And let's face it – people are lazy. They want to consume the most information as possible with the least amount of effort. Including a video on your landing page allows viewers to absorb all of the key pieces of information without having to do much other than hit play.

Video Workshop

So what do you do if you don’t have the gear or you need help with getting team buy-in? Have a video workshop. During the workshop, we come out for a day to your company and bring you all of the gear, lessons, templates, and plenty of spunk to help your team create 8 to 12 new videos for your site. It's quite the deal.

HubSpot Updates

Important Changes to Company Insights Tool in Prospects

HubSpot is always looking to move your inbound marketing and sales processes forward. Sometimes, that means creating new tools — in the past few months, you’ve seen things like smart sending of emails, team Meetings, a brand new iOS app for HubSpot CRM, multiple pipelines, a redesigned Sequences editor, and more. Other times, it means making the difficult choice to sunset tools.

Moving forward, you'll see improvements to website visits data in Prospects (within HubSpot CRM) including updates to enrich the database both for anonymous website visitors and for the companies you add to HubSpot CRM. As a part of this doubling-down, on September 1st, the "Company Insights" tab will be removed from the Prospects tool in HubSpot CRM;

HubSpot CRM

Note: The companies you add to HubSpot CRM will continue to be enriched with all the data you're used to. In addition, the website visits stream won't be affected. This change only impacts the "Company Insights" tab.

This decision wasn't taken lightly, and was made for a couple of reasons:
  • Users have given HubSpot great feedback on the tool, and reviews have been mixed on its utility. While some may appreciate the intention of the tool, the data lacks actionable takeaways and next steps for sales teams, and is sometimes spotty. In full transparency, as the tool has grown, it has been increasingly difficult to provide data of the level of quality that you deserve.
  • As the inbound sales vision has evolved, it’s become abundantly clear that the Company Insights tool doesn’t align. Searching through a list of companies that haven’t shown interest in your product or service simply isn’t “Inbound.”

To give you a bit more color, usage of the tool across HubSpot has been low. Very few active HubSpot portals have added a company from “Company Insights” into their own CRM in the last few months. Even fewer have used Prospects more than once a day (on average) over the last quarter.

While these statistics don't take away from the fact that a small group of customers finds value in the tool, it gives you some perspective into the facts of the situation. When faced with choosing priorities across a multi-tool, ever-growing platform, we lean on this type of data to ensure that our decisions align with the tools that you, our customers, use and value most.

Reorder and Minimize Cards on Contact, Company, and Deal Records

Information is important. But not all information is equally important to every member of your team. Your sales reps might spend their energy working deals, while your marketing team might focus more closely on basic contact and company demographics. The better your HubSpot records reflect your priorities, the less scrolling you’ll have to do and the quicker you’ll be able to do your job.

Now, you have the ability to reorder and minimize cards on contact, company, and deal records. Today's update enables you to bring the most relevant information front and center and minimize what’s less important.

HubSpot CRM Contacts

How it works?

In any contact, company, or deal record, the left-hand side includes cards for things like About, Companies, Deals, and Attachments. Navigate to any record in HubSpot, and drag and drop these cards into your desired order. Use the arrow on the left-hand side to minimize cards that aren’t relevant to you.

Note: The changes you make will carry over to all the records you view moving forward. They won’t affect any of the other users in your HubSpot portal.

The update is now live to all HubSpot Marketing and Sales portals.

Ready to get your hands dirty? Head over to your Contacts database now.

HubSpot Wish List

Email

I'm working with a long-time client who is in the process of migrating the website to HubSpot COS and on-boarding the 7-person sales team into the CRM.

They are having an issue that's been outstanding on ideas.hubspot.com for over 3 years now. It seems like such a simple idea that I'm surprised HubSpot has not addressed this to date:

While you can see the fields in order from the Form Submissions, this is not possible for the sales team who only has access to the contact record. For long forms, information gets placed willy-nilly into the timeline.

Could you highlight this idea on an upcoming show to bring awareness of this issue to the broader HubSpot community?

Thanks,
William McKee

Improve field ordering in Form Submission Details

The "Show Submission Details" option on a Contact's timeline shows form fields in a different order than they appeared on the form, and the order makes no sense from a readability perspective. Please make the field ordering in "Show Submission Details" follow a consistent scheme: either the order in which they originally appeared in the form, or a global customizable field ordering.

Note that this also affects the iOS app, where the field ordering for form submission details is even more random than on the web site.
