With the launch of its marketplace For Hire, Vimeo has made it even easier for brands to source and hire the best talent to start producing high-quality video.
No matter how big or small your company is, you’ve probably struggled with getting video off the ground.
While brands and companies understand the value of video, sourcing the right talent can be extremely difficult.
With the launch of For Hire, Vimeo has created the “ultimate job board” for finding and hiring video experts — including editors, animators, designers, and video producers.
So, how can your brand utilize this video talent marketplace?
With over 30,000 video experts, Vimeo has placed a focus on connecting brands with top talent.
According to Vimeo CEO, Anjali Sud, “Every business, brand, and agency today faces hurdles in producing video at scale. Our new hiring tool fundamentally streamlines this process, by connecting those in need of talent with top-tier video pros from our global creative community.”
There are two ways for you to connect directly with top video talent on the platform:
You can filter through the platform to find individuals and companies by location, skill, budget, and project type. Based on your search criteria, Vimeo will show you all of the available experts.
You can recruit video talent by describing your project in a job posting that the experts can find.
Unlike other talent sourcing platforms, Vimeo doesn’t charge a membership fee for hirers — or collect any fees for connecting you with any of their experts. Vimeo is using the platform merely to connect talent and companies. (However, the platform does charge a monthly membership fee.)
All payments are done outside of Vimeo and directly with the video talent you’ve selected to work with.
With For Hire, the platform is hoping to streamline the process and reduce any friction you might have by bringing the best talent directly to you, reducing the amount of time you’ve previously spent searching for freelance video experts.
Whether you’re using Vimeo’s hiring tool or working with a freelancer who was referred to you, you’ll still need to do your homework.
You will want to make sure that the freelancer has the tools, resources, and equipment that are going to offer the highest quality product. This applies to both audio and video. Do that by screening the candidates. Ensure they have the capabilities you’re looking for.
Technical skills you should look for include the basics of video production, exposure, composition, lighting, and audio.
And, with any hire, be confident that they understand the types of videos you’re trying to create. They should understand your company and how various types of video content can help your brand generate sales.
