an-infographic-about-how-and-why-your-marketing-need-infographicsI know. Things got real meta, real fast on this one.

So, before your head starts spinning, or you succumb to the digital marketing inception of it all, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.

In the last decade, infographics have changed the way marketers and brands alike digest, curate, and share content with their audiences.

A staple on communities like Pinterest, StumbleUpon, and Reddit, infographics capitalize on the biggest benefits we’ve always been taught about visuals in marketing. They grab the eye, make complicated data easier to understand, and are extremely shareable, but for non-designers, they can be a bit intimidating.

In this infographic about infographics, the content marketing software company, OneSpot shares valuable statistics about how to create and use infographics and why they are so important to a content marketing strategy.

Pulling facts from Google Trends, CMI, Unbounce, and others, here are a few of its highlights:

  • 90% of data transmitted to our brains is visual

  • As of April 2015, there were 62 million results for the term “infographic” (there are over 95 million as of this week)

  • Popular infographic types include: Data visualization, Maps, Lists, Timelines, and Flowcharts.

  • Infographics are 30x more likely to be read than a text article

Not a designer? Try using one of the tools below to create an infographic on your own!
