I loved this reminder so much. I am working hard to create space for myself to digest things before reacting. I saw this post right before we did our webinar dry run yesterday and Christine pointed out how we're creating space for webinar dry runs! We joked about how we're creating space for mistakes and space for promotion!
Speaking of creating space, we're going to create some space for The IMPACT Show. We are going to move to doing the show every other week. We love that you take time out of your busy schedules and we hope that you find the show useful. We want to make sure it's the best show it can be so we're going to start doing the show every other week. We have a surprise coming for the off-weeks as well.
How did we come to this choice? We want to be able to put on a high quality show and, on the weeks that we have our company All Hands, it can be a bit frantic for both us and for Christine. We're creating some space for preparation and to digest some ideas before we talk about them.
We're looking forward to the new cadence but fear not, we'll still be live next Friday at our normal time! Nick went on to share how Chris Duprey is so good at helping us remember to create space, to better ourselves and continue learning, and to build our personal brands. So, if you haven't yet, be sure to follow Chris Duprey on LinkedIn! Chris helps organize our monthly All Hands team meetings and now we'll be able to really dive into those and bring some important lessons back to you on the next episode of the show.

I knew she was not the only one in our group who felt this way! I posted in Elite asking how many other marketers of one we have in Elite and, unsurprisingly, many of you chimed in! I loved seeing this because I've been there and I know how challenging it can be. You have to wear so many hats and balance so many things at once. That's why I'm so happy that we have Elite because I like to think of the group as an extension of your marketing team. We're here for you as a resource, a sounding board, a shoulder to vent to - whatever you need! Whether you're a team of one, five or twenty - we are here for you. That's part of what makes the group so great!
I knew this was the case when Elite member Corbin Rugh told me a story at a networking event this past week. She is a marketer of one who recently posted a question in Elite asking for some feedback on a HubSpot template she was considering using. She was able to go back to her boss and not just say that she asked some marketers about it...she was able to say "I got input from 2,500 passionate inbound professionals." I thought that was SO cool! What a great use of the group. So, if you're a marketer of one just remember - you're never alone in Elite!
Elite Member Juan José Bello posted in Elite "I just noticed inbound.org s coming to a close." along with a link to a post by Dharmesh Shah, co-founder of HubSpot and inbound.org. It talks about how they're sunsetting inbound.org as it is today but they are launching something new. He said "We’re calling it the Growth Hub and it will live at growth.org. It’s a place for growth professionals (marketing, sales, and service) to connect, collaborate and learn."
As Nick pointed out, Dharmesh is very intentional in all his communication. There are so many lessons we can learn from his post about how to break the news about something - especially a lesson on having the next steps or the next thing ready (or ready enough to share). Nick gave an update on his recent experience on controlling expectations while selling professional services. As IMPACT grows and evolves we're building out more product offerings on the media side but still have our core professional services. Nick shared how, when talking with prospects, he has to set realistic expectations about how much bandwidth we have, how quickly we can or cannot get started, what our capacity is on a given day, and how we track and measure that.
I gave an update about how I finally got a chance to dive into SeventhSense, a great tool for sending marketing and sales emails at the perfect time. I'm so excited to share what I learn from the next few steps. After a short call with them I had 4 new lists to use and a 5 step plan of what to do next. It was great!
