Can an Infographic Resume Help You Stand out in the Talent Pool? [Infographic]

A few years ago, Mashable wrote an article about the rise of the Yuccie, “The young urban creative” -- and a little bit of my sparkle faded.

When I saw this, I had the sad realization that perhaps I’m not as much of a unicorn as I think I am.

Like me, as a digital marketer, you’re likely more aware than others of the wealth of creative careers popping up these days.

From writers and designers to developers and strategists of all kinds, creativity is a hot commodity, but also one many claim to have.

With so many people crying wolf, it’s becoming harder and harder to stand out from the crowd and in order to truly call yourself “creative,” you need to prove it.

If you’re currently on the job market or simply like to be prepared, creating an infographic resume is an easy way to catch eyes and, if done well, impress prospective employers right-off-the-bat.

In the super-meta infographic below from Venngage and CareerSherpa, you’ll learn how to easily create and share an infographic resume.

Here are some of the most useful tips:

  • Use it as a supplement to a traditional resume
  • Avoid writing a boring list of job duties; use quantifiable data you can illustrate.
  • Use pie or donut charts to show your daily responsibilities and skills
  • Use a word cloud to show relevant keywords or desired skills
  • Add a testimonial or quote from a reference or satisfied client
  • Show the logos of big companies you’ve worked with
  • Upload your infographic resume to Pinterest, SlideShare, etc.
  • Map your story!
